….Else Raasum og Jean Moreaux møder hinanden i Paris foråret 1963, da de begge er under uddannelse på Kunstakademiet École des Beaux-Arts. Det bliver begyndelsen til et langt liv i fællesskab og med kunsten som omdrejningspunkt, og de bevæger sig gennem Europa i en tid, hvor kunst og samfund undergår store forandringer.

I Amsterdam 1964-66 har de begge et legat ved Rigsakademiet. For Raasum er det et legat til radering, og for Moreaux er det til maleri. Herefter går turen til det politisk aktive kunstnermiljø i Bruxelles, hvor de gør op med de klassiske studier og indleder hver deres selvstændige kunstneriske løbebane. I 1971 rejser de til Milano, som gode venner anbefaler, og hvor kunstforeningen Est Ticino i Castano Primo viser stor interesse for deres kunst. Den politiske situation i 70’ernes Italien spidser imidlertid til, og det bliver svært at leve som emigrant. I 1977 indser Raasum og Moreaux, at det er tiden til at vende tilbage til Frankrig, hvor de er bosat i La Bussière syd for Paris indtil Moreauxs død i 2001.

Else Raasum et Jean Moreaux se sont rencontrés au printemps 1963 à Paris, alors qu’ils étudiaient tous les deux à L’École des Beaux-Arts. Ce fut le début d’une longue vie ensemble, entièrement axée sur l’art. Ils ont traversé l’Europe à une époque où la société et l’art subissaient de grands changements.

À Amsterdam tous les deux avaient reçu une bourse de la Rijksakademie. Une bourse pour la gravure pour Raasum et une bourse pour la peinture pour Moreaux. Après cela ils sont partis à Bruxelles où ils se sont joints à un cercle d’artiste politiquement actifs. Là ils se sont affranchis des études classiques et chacun a commencé une carrière artistique indépendante. En 1971 ils sont partis à Milan, recommandé par des amis. L’association d’art Est Ticino à Castano Primo près de Milan a porté un grand intérêt à leur art. La situation politique des années soixante-dix en Italie s’est dégradée et cela est devenu difficile d’y vivre comme immigrant. En 1977 Raasum et Moreaux se sont rendu compte qu’il leur fallait retourner en France. Ils sont venus s’installer à La Bussière, situé au sud de Paris et ils ont habité là jusqu’à la mort de Moreaux en 2001.

Else Raasum e Jean Moreaux si conobbero a Parigi nella primavera del 1963, dove entrambi erano studenti alla Scuola di Belle Arti. Quello fu l'inizio di una lunga vita in comune, interamente dedicata alla creazione artistica e che li vide attraversare l'Europa in un periodo di grandi cambiamenti nella società e nell'arte.

Furono ad Amsterdam, dove avevano ottenuto una borsa di studio presso la  Rijksakademie in tecniche di incisione per Raasum, in pittura per Moreaux. In seguito,  trasferitisi a Bruxelles, si uniscono ad una cerchia di artisti attivi politicamente. Si affrancarono allora dall'impostazione classica dando così avvio, ciascuno di loro, alla propria carriera artistica. Nel 1971, su indicazione di alcuni amici, raggiungono Milano e vanno a vivere a Castano Primo, cittadina non lontana dalla metropoli, dove suscitano un grande interesse da parte dell’Associazione d'arte Est Ticino. Verso la fine degli anni '70 la situazione politica in Italia si va degradando e la coppia comincia ad avvertire una certa difficoltà a viverci da immigrati, così nel 1977 Raasum e Moreaux decidono di rientrare in Francia e vanno a vivere  a La Bussière, a sud di Parigi, dove rimarranno  fino alla morte di Moreaux avvenuta nel 2001.

Else Raasum and Jean Moreaux meet in Paris in the spring of 1963, as they are both studying at the École des Beaux-Arts Academy of Art. It will be the beginning of a long life together and with art as the focal point, and they will move through Europe at a time when art and society are undergoing great change.

In Amsterdam 1964-66 they both have a scholarship at the National Academy. For Raasum, it is a scholarship for erasure, and for Moreaux it is for painting. Afterwards, the tour goes to the politically active artist community in Brussels, where they end up with the classical studies and each start their own artistic career.
